Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has announced today that he will be entering a pair of VW Beetle Supercars in the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship under the banner of “Team JCWRX”

Clarkson has also announced that he has signed fellow former presenter James May to drive one of the Beetle’s along with The Stig who will pilot the teams second car and has been given special dispensation by the FIA to keep his real identity completely secret during the season. Fellow former presenter Richard Hammond will act as spotter as his superb performance in the role at Lydden Hill in December.

In a recent Top Gear episode, Clarkson declared that “Rallycross is Brilliant” and said in a recent interview that moving across to the series was the next logical step.

“Its a brilliant idea that can’t go wrong! With all this free time on my hands, I decided its time to get into Motorsport on a full time basis. Besides, these cars have so much power! James has the experience from his time in the VW Polo and the Stig… Well he’s fast in just about everything he drives, so its obvious we can challenge for the championship from the start!” explained Clarkson.

The team is said to be preparing for a full assault on the championship after a recent test at Lydden Hill showed Stig to be quicker than the times set during the 2014 WorldRX of Great Britain whilst May was said to be around five seconds slower. Meanwhile Hammond is brushing up on his spotters skills after May ended up taking his joker laps on the M25…

(Yes, this is an April Fools Joke, no none of it is real, I hope you had a good laugh!)
